HCL eliminated the complex IBM PVU and CAL schemes with the introduction of the Complete Collaboration (CCB) model and introduced user-based licensing.

HCL Domino Complete Collaboration Business (CCB)

CCB is the base licence for internal users (employees and contractors).

• one licence per user,
• includes email, applications, Notes, web and REST access,
• includes new features (Nomad Web, APIs),
• simplified cost planning.

CCB is today the standard choice for most organisations.

HCL Domino Complete Collaboration External User (CCX)

CCX is intended for external users (B2B/B2C) who actively participate in Domino applications.

• for customers, partners, suppliers,
• licensing based on the highest number of active users in the period,
• no personal email,
• ideal for portals, forms and workflows.

Anonymous and read-only web access remains allowed without additional licences.

HCL Domino and Sametime Licences

The most common model is annual licence leasing (Term License). Perpetual licences and their renewal (Subscription & Support) are available only for government institutions. MSP licences are intended as a service for multiple organisations.

Important: End of legacy IBM licences

The transition to the new model is mandatory for long-term system security and support.

• end of support for legacy IBM Domino licences,
• PVU and Utility licences are no longer supported,
• without CCB/CCX there are no more upgrades or official support.
